Catch and Release Fish Reproductions -- "Relive the Moment!"

We think it is important to have a clear understanding of what the customer is looking for and they understand what we can realistically deliver.

The process starts with the customer contacting us and discussing the project and providing pictures of the fish or we agree to use some other reference pictures for the project. We dialog on what their expectations are and what they would like to see in the final product. We explain the process for their type of fish and what I can realistically reproduce for them in a reproduction. We research the available fish blanks and locate the closest blanks to match their fish and discuss with them which one we will use. It is important to keep the customer involved in the process.

The order is written up with a timeline and a deposit is needed to start the project.

All the reproduction blanks are custom made to order and it could take several months to have them delivered to the studio. The fish blank is prepared for painting, adding and detailing fins, creating the eyes and mouth.

The painting process is customized to replicate the customers fish. It takes several days to paint all the detail in layers of color, iridescent color and clear coat to give the illusion of a real fish bringing the reproduction to life. When the fish looks like it can swim off the wall then we know it is ready for the customer.
